Just came back from Bangkok, and I made an observation....almost every direction I turn, I will see a Thai girl, and a caucasian man. Which makes me wonder, is this really love, or "something" else ?? (c'mon, u know wat)

Lonely in Paradise?
I'm lucky in that I'm fit and healthy, however I am lonely. I'm 40 years old and have no family unfortunately my parents have passed away and I never quite had kids of my own, most of my friends have their own lives and families of which I am quite envious especially family times ie.Christmas etc.
I decided to move to Thailand where I do quite enjoy living but am still lonley, I have a girl friend but only see her once a week as she works in Bangkok and I live some 100 miles away.
I expect most people reading this are thinking what is he complaining about, living in Thailand not working etc, I know how it looks and thats why I never receive any sympathy and actually I'm not looking for pitty rather ideas for achieving a more fullfilling life where I can meet normal people (difficult here) and have less of a lonely existance. feeling so isolated,
I often think about returning to the UK to start again although I have nothing there either.
Can anybody recommend which city and hotel stay at in Thailand?
A girlfriend of mine and I will be going to Thailand soon and specifically we're looking at Bangkok (but we're not limited to that area). We're into the nightlife (dance clubs, restaurants, and bars, and could enjoy some touristy stuff during the day) and am looking for an area with a good clean vibe. (It would be nice to throw in some beach time, but I'm thinking my time might be too short for it)
Because we're both single girls (in our late 20's, early 30's), we'd like to venture out to spots which would have decent looking straight men with a good mix with the crowds. In addition I'll only be staying there for a week or a little bit more and will be looking at staying in a hotel. I did see a lot of 4 star hotels around but am wondering if anybody would have any first hand recommendations. Also, should we rent a car when we get there, or should we just use public transporation?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
(Thailand is not my first choice as a destination for this type of trip, but we're accompanying her parents there so they can take care of some business there. Her parents will of course be off and doing their own thing)

Someone posted a rather assinine comment about Bangkok being the sex capitol of the world. There were a couple equally assinine answers and a slew responses that were so misinformed I was appalled. Is it really not common knowledge that the Thai men have long standing traditions of going to brothels, and having minor wives and concubines? The fourth King in the Chakri Dynasty - when the capitol was in Ayutthaya- had a government office that housed and registed his concubines (believed to be well over 200). The fifth, and most revered King had more than a dozen wives and 40 kids. Anyway, is there anyone who has further/ more reliable info? I think many foriegners have the notion that prostitutes are only bar girls, and if they aren't dancing around a chrome pole they are not for sale.....

Hi, people ! I'm from Thailand. School here in my hometown in Thailand is really boring and frustrating me. Here are only Thai students. It's boring because there is only one ethnicity. My friends from the US and Europe told me that, In there school, people are differrent, white , black , asian. I feel so alone because though I speak Thai but it's ahrd to get along with my Thai friends because culture. There are 3000 students in my school and the only person that speaks English is me. Every weekend I have to go to Bangkok to see my international friends. They understand me and the way they think is differrent to Thai students. I don't have enough money to afford an Internation school though. I mean it's really boring in my school, I like bruentte girls, so i'd like to date one. I had 2 gf in my life and both lived far away from me. One is bruentte[She's a European], other is blonde[As a Asian teenager, It's a big honour to be with a girl from the Mid West]. I'm not a racist, I tried dating with 5 Thai girls before but differrent attitudes make things disgraceful.
Am I missing out or wasting my time here ? It seems that I can't get along with them really.
Also when I want to go out with a girl, i have to go to another town that full of people that are more international. In my school if you like a girl, you have to ask your friends to tell her that you like. but for me, I do things myself.
